Introducing a non-invasive healing modality and stress release technique
The Bowen Technique was developed in the 1950’s by an Australian, Tom Bowen. He successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of a series of gentle, precise moves on specific muscles, tendons and nerves to relieve all kinds of muscular, skeletal or nerve imbalance injury in acute and chronic conditions.
The practitioner targets a specific spot, which may be a muscle, tendon or nerve shaft. With the fingers or thumbs, the skin slack is gently pushed away. After a brief pause the muscle is challenged and moved in the opposite direction. The length of the therapy may vary from a few minutes for a specific move to one hour, with the norm being about 30 to 45 minutes.
The Bowen Technique affects various body systems, as does the automatic nervous system (ANS), which is responsible for controlling over 90% of what goes on in our bodies from heart rate to motor skills. Over ten years of research has shown that Bowen therapy works on a variety of different conditions, i.e. stress, headaches, TMJ, fibromylagia, chronic fatigue, MS, frozen shoulder, arthritis, back pain and much more.
Testimonials |
A 65 -year-old retired Dentist experienced severe pain in the left side of his face for two years. He had been diagnosed with tic douloureux (facial neuralgia) by a Neurologist, and was almost non-functional because of the excruciating chronic pain and the side effects from pain medication. No therapy had given him any relief. After two Bowen treatments, he stopped all medication and was pain free.
A 57-year-old man suffered from chronic back pain and could walk only with the help of a cane. Housebound, he could walk or sit only 20 minutes at a time and took constant medication for the pain. After three Bowen treatments he was able to fish again and resumed a normal life.
A 30-year-old female suffered from frozen shoulder and was in so much pain, doctors wanted to operate. After two Bowen treatments, she had full movement of her shoulder and was almost pain free.
Workshops will be held regularly, see our calendar for details.
