Pre requisites
Although there is no entry level requirement for attending the course, a good grounding in Anatomy would be useful. The course is taught referring to muscles and their latin names. 1. Part One
The E.C.B.S four day Part One Introductory Course to The Bowen Technique is designed to give a solid grounding in the theory and practice of the technique. It is structured to give clear and detailed instruction, visual demonstration, and anecdotal information and, most importantly, plenty of supervised hands-on experience for the student as the basic moves of the therapy are mastered. E.C.B.S. Detailed and illustrated teaching notes will be provided on the course.
Upon completion of Part One, students will have a working knowledge of the technique which will enable them to continue their learning through further independent practice. In order to establish a level of understanding and proficiency, those students who wish to progress through the subsequent training levels will be asked to record ten treatments (30 sessions) prior to Part Three, for which a log book will be provided on the course. A further ten cases are required as part of the Part Five assessment level. Details of this are given on the relevant levels.
2. Part Two and part three will be taught together in Dubai
The two day Part Two review will aim to ensure that the students’ knowledge of the basic moves is solid. By this stage students will have gained some experience through their practice of the technique and Part Two will build on and refine this. As students will be in the process of compiling the Practise Log Book, assistance and discussion will also focus on this.
3. Part Three
The three day Part Three will teach new moves to the students. Up until now, the procedures learned have dealt primarily with the structural aspects of the body. Part Three will expand on this as well as introducing new moves which focus more on the organic and energetic systems.
Three weeks before commencing this course, students will be asked to send a copy of their Practise Log Book to the teacher conducting the level.
Students are required to submit a further ten case studies (30 treatments) for assessment prior to attending Part Five. There is a minimum interval of four months between Part One and Part Three
4. Part Four and Five will be taught together in Dubai
Part Four is the final stop before the Part Five assessment level. Students will be able to review the procedures learned at Part Three and will also have time to recap on the earlier parts of the course. Students will have the opportunity to discuss case histories and to be certain that any questions are fully answered.
5. Part Five: Including Assessment & Examination
The three day Part Five level will be a review and practise of all the work learnt so far.
The third day will culminate in a theory examination and practical assessment. Students are encouraged to complete the course of study at a pace which suits them individually to ensure maximum skills and confidences are attained. The second series of cases will be returned and a written evaluation on these given to each student.
